Prominent Ghanaian “Influencer” and socialite Mona Faiz Montrage popularly known as Hajia 4Real has been sentenced to a year and a day in prison following her involvement in a romance scam.

Mona pleaded guilty and asked to pay back the money as she felt “shame as a mother of an 8-year-old daughter.”

According to Inner City Press reporter, Matthew Russell Lee, who was present at the Southern District New York court, Mona’s sentencing guidelines was 37 months to 46 months. However, the judge after a break imposed a sentence of a year and a day which will allow good time credit.

The USA also consented to no ICE detention which will allow her to fly straight to Ghana from the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) after serving her sentencing.

In May 2023, Mona was arrested in the United Kingdom and extradited to the United States to stand a hearing after being charged for her role in a romance scheme.

In February 2024, she pleaded to the charges for her role in laundering the proceeds of a series of romance scams. MONTRAGE pled guilty to conspiracy to receive stolen money before U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave.
