Ghana’s Black Stars have dropped four places in the latest FIFA rankings, falling to 77th after failing to secure a single win in six games at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). This decline, from 73rd in October to 77th in November, leaves Ghana with 1320.2 points.
The team’s FIFA ranking woes began in September when they fell six spots following a home defeat to Angola and a draw against Niger in Morocco. In October, the decline continued as they dropped three more places after a goalless draw with Sudan in Accra and a 2-0 defeat in the return leg.
The struggles under coach Otto Addo have been evident, with Ghana now ranked 77th, a stark contrast to their 61st position in November 2023. This marks a sharp decline for the once-dominant Black Stars, who are now only 12 spots away from their lowest-ever FIFA ranking of 89th.
Despite the dismal results, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is poised to give Otto Addo another opportunity. He is set to lead the team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, beginning in March 2025.
With Ghana’s football reputation on the line, all eyes will be on Addo to turn the tide and steer the Black Stars back to their former glory.
