According to a Spanish state-owned TV station, Liverpool’s 28-year-old Portuguese forward Diogo Jota and his brother perished in a terrible automobile accident in Zamora in northwest Spain on Thursday, citing local firemen.
Although they were unable to formally authenticate the names at this time, police told Reuters that all the evidence suggested that information was accurate.
On its website, the regional fire department of Castille-Leon, where Zamora resides, stated that two men, ages 28 and 26, were discovered dead after a car crashed just after midnight on Thursday and caught fire.
Jota, who married on June 28, helped Liverpool win the FA Cup and League Cup with the Merseyside team last season in addition to winning the Premier League.
In 2020, Jota moved from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Anfield, where she scored 65 goals in 182 games in all competitions. Along with playing 49 games for Portugal, he also won two UEFA Nations League titles.
