Kwesi Pratt Questions Kennedy Agyapong’s “Nobody Knows What Will Happen” Remark After NPP Primaries

Veteran journalist and Insight newspaper Managing Editor Kwesi Pratt Jr has questioned remarks made by presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong after the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries.

Kennedy Agyapong contested the January 31, 2026 primaries against four other aspirants. After the results were declared, he accepted defeat and urged his supporters to drop the popular slogan “No Ken, No Vote” as the party looks ahead to the 2028 general elections.

Addressing his followers, Agyapong called for patience and unity, stressing that the political landscape could change in the coming years.

“We have about three years ahead of us. Nobody knows what will happen during that time. So be patient and stop using the ‘No Ken, No Vote’ slogan,” he said.

However, Kwesi Pratt Jr has raised questions about the meaning behind Agyapong’s comments.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo programme on February 3, 2026, Pratt wondered what developments the former Assin Central MP might be referring to.

“He told his supporters to relax because nobody knows what will happen in the next three years,” Pratt said. “So the question is, what exactly is he expecting to happen?”

Pratt suggested that the statement could be interpreted as hinting at future political possibilities within the party. These could include being considered as a running mate or taking on another influential role.

“Either Dr Bawumia may choose him as a running mate, or there are other options Kennedy Agyapong is quietly pointing to,” he noted.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia emerged as the winner of the NPP presidential primaries and secured the party’s flagbearer position for the 2028 general elections.

Official results from the Electoral Commission show that Dr Bawumia obtained 110,645 votes, representing 56.48 percent of the total valid votes cast.

Kennedy Agyapong placed second with 46,554 votes (23.76 percent), while Dr Bryan Acheampong followed with 36,303 votes (18.53 percent).

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum polled 1,999 votes (1.02 percent), and Kwabena Agyapong received 402 votes, representing 0.21 percent.
