US Marshals Release Details of Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu’s Arrest in Nevada

The United States Marshals Service has released detailed information on the arrest and detention of former MASLOC Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, after a request was filed under the US Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by Ghanaian lawyer William Nyarko.

Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu fled to the United States after a Ghanaian High Court convicted her in April 2024. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison for several offences, including causing financial loss to the state, theft, conspiracy to steal, money laundering, and violations of the Public Procurement Act.

On January 15, 2026, Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Smith, confirmed that Tamakloe-Attionu had been arrested by the US Marshals Service and detained at the Henderson Detention Center in Nevada, although no further details were provided at the time.

However, a letter from the US Marshals Service, now made public and cited by 3news.com, offers a step-by-step account of how the former MASLOC boss was apprehended. Some operational details were redacted in line with FOIA regulations.

Arrest Details

According to the US Marshals Service, an arrest warrant for Tamakloe-Attionu was issued on December 12, 2025, by the US District Court for the District of Nevada. The warrant sought her extradition to Ghana as a fugitive following her conviction for embezzlement-related offences.

A Deputy US Marshal was assigned to the case the same day.

On January 6, 2026, officers from the Nevada Violent Offenders Task Force (NVOTF) identified her residence. At approximately 12:15 p.m., Tamakloe-Attionu was observed opening and closing her front door before retreating back inside the house.

Later that afternoon, at about 3:05 p.m., task force officers approached the residence to execute the arrest warrant. After announcing their presence, officers made contact with her at the door, placed her in restraints, and conducted a search at the scene.

She was subsequently placed in a task force vehicle and transported to the Federal Courthouse in Las Vegas.

After her initial court processing, Tamakloe-Attionu was transferred to the Henderson Detention Center, a facility contracted by the US Marshals Service, where she was held overnight.

On the morning of January 7, 2026, officers from the Henderson Police Department escorted her back to the Federal Courthouse, where she was formally booked into the custody of the US Marshals Service.

The case remains part of ongoing extradition proceedings as US and Ghanaian authorities continue to work through the legal process.
