A Togolese national, Haruna Muba, believed to be in his 30s, has been arrested by residents of Denkyira Ayanfuri in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region.
According to sources, the suspect attempted to sell a young man in his 20s whom he works with at a galamsey site for eighty thousand cedis (GHC80,000) to be used for money rituals.
Community volunteers of Ayanfuri, upon learning of the suspect’s intention, laid an ambush with journalists and BNI officials in an uncompleted building where the victim had been tied with a rope and his mouth and eyes covered, waiting for the buyers to come for him for the rituals.
However, he was arrested when he showed up in readiness to transact the business of selling the victim.
The suspect, Haruna, who is alleged to have tried beheading his 17-year-old niece sometime back, is currently in the custody of the Dunkwa Divisional Police Headquarters, assisting police with the investigation.
