Thousands gathered at Independence Square to honor the life of music legend Daddy Lumba.
On the evening of Saturday, August 2, 2025, thousands of mourners gathered in Accra’s Independence Square to honor the late music legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, well known by his stage as Daddy Lumba.
Participants, who were primarily dressed in black, lit candles, sung along to Daddy Lumba’s classic songs, and reminisced about his significant influence on Ghana’s music scene.
The poignant vigil is one of several planned memorial events honoring the life and legacy of one of Ghana’s most cherished and significant artists.
The Fosu family thanked everyone for the love, prayers, and support they have received thus far in a public statement issued on July 27, 2025. Details of some of the early plans to honor the music icon were disclosed by the family.
One of these is the Book of Condolence, which has been made available to friends, admirers, coworkers, and the public at large to offer their last condolences and recollections of the deceased performer.
