Personnel from the Ashaiman branch of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) saved a man who attempted to commit suicide on Tuesday, August 20.
The man, in his early 50s, tried to end his life by climbing an electric pylon in Adjei Kojo, a community in the Tema West Constituency, which shares a boundary with Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region. According to sources, the man attempted suicide because he could not afford the medical bills for his kidney disease.
Recounting the cause of his distress to the GNFS personnel and some eyewitnesses, the man explained, When I got the disease, I went to a health centre at Ashaiman Polyclinic, and they referred me to Tema General Hospital.
At Tema General Hospital,also directed me to go to UGMC.
