Tragically, a young nursing student from Ghana died after being ambushed by armed thieves.
When the late Peggy Ayelbassah was attacked by armed bandits while traveling to Salaga for her interview for admission to nursing college, what should have been an exciting day for her turned tragic.
On July 25, 2025, Collins Adomako-Mensah, the Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, posted the devastating news on his X page and expressed his profound sadness over the unfortunate event.
He claims that the day before her interview, the late Peggy was full of joy and hope, even sending him a note to let him know about her trip. Sadly, however, it turned out to be her last day on earth.
“The news of your death this morning just shattered me. Killed by armed robbers on your way to Salaga for your admission interview into nursing college. You sent me a WhatsApp message just yesterday on this trip,” he wrote.
The congressman recalled his own interactions with Peggy in his homage, characterizing her as a loyal advocate for his political goals.
“Her premature death has left an irreplaceable void,” Adomako-Mensah continued. “It will be challenging to replace your commitment to my political goals. I understand that we are not to question God, but why? Get enough sleep. Rest well,” he continued.
Concerns about the startling increase in criminal activity have been raised by the news, and many people are urging authorities to act quickly to resolve the problem and stop the rising risk of fatalities from armed robbery and other security risks.
