Manchester United goalkeeper, Andre Onana, has made a return to the Cameroon squad for their final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Burundi.
This is after a dispute with the Indomitable Lions coach, Rigobert Song, at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar last December. Onana has not featured for Cameroon since then.
The misunderstanding was reportedly over the former Ajax goalkeeper’s style of play, as he prefers to step out of his line and get involved in the buildup play while Song wants him to do otherwise.
The 27-year-old then went on to announce his retirement from international football, writing in Twitter/X post, “My story with the Cameroonian national team has come to an end. Players come and go, names are fleeting, but Cameroon comes before any person or player”.
However, Rogobert Song named Onana in his squad on Tuesday for the Burundi AFCON qualifier set to be played on September 12 in Garoua.
