OSP Seizes Fuel Stations, Luxury Homes and Vehicles in High-Profile NPA Corruption Case

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has confirmed that it has seized and is currently managing several high-value assets connected to the ongoing criminal case involving former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive Officer, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, and nine other accused persons.

The disclosure is contained in the OSP’s 2025 Half-Yearly Report, signed by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng. According to the report, the assets form part of exhibits in The Republic v. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid & Nine Others (CR/0603/2025), a case currently before the Criminal High Court in Accra.

Fuel Stations, Cash and Land Seized

Among the seized properties are four fuel stations located at Opeikuma, Dansoman, Abeka Lapaz, and Millennium City, along with GH¢951,995.56 in cash.

The OSP has also taken control of several parcels of land nationwide, including:

  • Tamale – valued at GH¢9.93 million

  • Haatso – valued at GH¢2.737 million

  • Danyame, Kumasi – valued at GH¢4.766 million

  • Adenta – value yet to be determined

Luxury Homes and Residential Properties

In addition, the anti-corruption office is managing multiple luxury residential properties in prime areas of Accra. These include:

  • A two-storey house at East Legon valued at GH¢12.7 million

  • High-end apartments located at Airport Residential Area, Boundary Road, Roman Ridge, and Adjiringanor

  • A six-unit residential block at Agbogba valued at GH¢10 million

  • Uncompleted apartment projects at Airport City and Roman Ridge

Tanker Trucks and Luxury Vehicles

The seized assets also include 23 fuel tanker trucks, believed to have been used in the alleged illegal operations.

Separately, the OSP disclosed that it has confiscated luxury vehicles valued at GH¢18.6 million as part of a related investigation into the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF).

These vehicles include:

  • Rolls-Royce Mansory Phantom

  • Mercedes-Benz Maybach S680

  • Mercedes-Benz Brabus 800

  • Toyota Land Cruiser LC300

  • Lexus LX600

  • Two Fiat bullion vans

Alleged GH¢291 Million Extortion Scheme

The asset seizures follow criminal charges against Dr Abdul-Hamid, former and current NPA officials, and three private companies for allegedly orchestrating a large-scale extortion scheme within the petroleum sector.

Prosecutors allege that between December 2022 and December 2024, the accused persons unlawfully collected GH¢291,574,087.19 and US$332,407.47 from bulk oil transporters and oil marketing companies, despite lacking any legal authority to do so.

Those standing trial include Jacob Kwamina Amuah, Wendy Newman, Albert Ankrah, Isaac Mensah, Bright Bediako-Mensah, and Kwaku Aboagye Acquaah, as well as Propnest Limited, KEL Logistics Limited, and Kings Energy Limited.

The case remains before the High Court as the OSP continues its asset-tracing, seizure, and prosecution efforts.
