Whistleblower Alleges Plot to Manipulate NPP Presidential Primaries Ahead of January 31 Vote

A whistleblower has raised alarm over an alleged scheme to undermine the integrity of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.

Ernest Conduah, a party member from the Sekondi Constituency, has formally petitioned the leadership of the NPP, claiming to have uncovered what he describes as a coordinated plan to manipulate the outcome of the internal election.

Whistleblower Raises Red Flags

In a complaint submitted under the Whistle Blower’s Act and copied to the media, Conduah alleged that intelligence gathered points to a “well-rehearsed plot” purportedly linked to elements within the campaign of Kennedy Agyapong.

“I write to you under the Whistle Blower’s Act to inform you and the leadership of the New Patriotic Party about plans to compromise the outcome of the January 31 NPP Presidential Primary,” he stated in his petition.

Alleged Use of Fake Polling Agents and Mobile App

According to Conduah, the alleged scheme involves the deployment of individuals posing as polling agents at voting centres across the country.

He claimed that these individuals would initially monitor voter turnout during the voting period. However, once voting closes, they would allegedly be replaced by another group tasked with supervising the counting process.

During the counting stage, the substituted agents are said to use a mobile application to transmit fabricated results from polling stations—even before counting is completed.

The whistleblower further alleged that the application would automatically allocate votes among candidates, assigning what he described as a disproportionate “lion’s share” to Kennedy Agyapong.

Alleged Plan to Declare Early Victory

Conduah claimed that the manufactured figures would then be sent to a central collation point and used to make a premature public declaration of victory.

According to him, the early announcement would be aimed at triggering celebrations among supporters of the affected candidate, while simultaneously demoralising agents and supporters of other aspirants.

He warned that such a strategy could pressure rival camps into abandoning the process nationwide, thereby distorting the true outcome of the primaries.

Claims of Security Involvement

The whistleblower also alleged that some National Security operatives could be disguised as police officers and deployed to polling centres as part of the plan.

He urged the party’s leadership to take the allegations seriously and act swiftly to safeguard the credibility of the primaries.

“By submitting this report under the Whistle Blower’s Act, I am alerting you to a serious intended plot which, if left unchecked, could create chaos on Saturday,” Conduah cautioned.

🔴 NPP Reacts

In response, the National Organiser of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye, has issued a firm warning against the presence of unauthorised security personnel at polling stations.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the party clarified that only the Ghana Police Service has been officially mandated to provide security for the presidential primaries.

“The New Patriotic Party, through the Presidential Elections Committee, has formally designated the Ghana Police Service as the only security institution responsible for providing security for the party’s presidential primary scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026,” the statement said.

Zero Tolerance for Unauthorised Security

The party stressed that it would not tolerate the presence of plain-clothed, non-uniformed, or unauthorised security operatives, including those allegedly deployed by National Security or any other institution.

Boakye warned that any such deployment would be considered a deliberate and unlawful intrusion into the party’s internal democratic process, with the potential to disrupt or manipulate the election.

He added that the NPP would not hesitate to pursue all lawful remedies to protect the integrity of the primaries and ensure a free, fair, and credible electoral process.
