Aggrieved Nurses of Akyem Oda Government Hospital (OGH) in the Birim Central Municipal Assembly of the Eastern region have disclosed their disappointment in the administration for refusing to finance the funeral of a colleague who died in a car accident.

The 28-year-old young, hardworking midwife, Francisca Asamaniwaa Quansah died on February 5, 2024, in a ghastly accident on Amasaman-Nsawam road.

Francisca will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

Speaking to some nurses during a demonstration on early Thursday morning, February 29, 2024, at the premises of the hospital, they disclosed to blesstvghana that they are pained by the actions and decisions of the administration.

Some explained that their colleague was returning from Accra for her night duty when she met her unfortunate death, but the administration is refusing to sponsor some of the funeral rites.

One nurse disclosed that it is the responsibility of the administration to cover the finances of their transportation to the funeral, among others.

Others said that they would not work until the administration addressed the issue because she was an active worker who deserved some recognition from the hospital.

According to them, they decided to demonstrate against the hospital management because they claimed to not know the deceased.

Some stranded patients pleaded with the nurses to stop it and attend to them because some of them were struggling.
