Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa better known as Afia Schwarzeneggar is to spend 10 days in jail for contempt of court.
This follows a bench warrant issued by a Tema High court to get her arrested immediately, after she had earlier escaped arrest.
This comes after Counsel for and on behalf of Chairman Wontumi, Maurice Kwabena Ampaw ESQ., on the 13th of July 2022 stated in an affidavit of support to the High Court that the Saturday, 9th July 2022, edition of the United Showbiz, was a clear agenda and attempt to give the 4th respondent (Afia Schwar), the needed platform to strengthen her case before the court and to seriously prejudice the matter before this Honourable Court.
Contained in the MOTION ON NOTICE FOR COMMITTAL FOR CONTEMPT, the applicant’s counsel said that “That in this circumstance, I humbly pray that such conduct of the Respondents is tantamount to Contempt of Court and warrant their Committal to prison as it will serve as an appropriate punitive action to defer the Respondents and other media houses and the public at large from undermining the authority of the Court when a matter is pending before the Court and to ensure that commentary and discussion on matters pending before the Court will be done with some level of decorum and respect so as not to prejudice and affect the fair trial of cases before the Court”.
