Govt determined to put measures in place to relieve Ghanaians of hardship

President Akufo-Addo says the government is determined to bring relief to Ghanaians and put the economy back on track. He noted that the government is putting measures in place to solve the economic problems to benefit Ghanaians.

President Akufo-Addo stated this in an address to open the 12th Biennial and 50th Golden Conference of the Methodist Church of Ghana.

The President said since coming into office, his goal has been to help improve the living standards of Ghanaians. He said every policy initiated, be it Free Senior High School, Planting for Food and Jobs or the One-District-One-Factory initiative, has been implemented with the ordinary Ghanaian in mind.

President Akufo-Addo noted, that, before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ghana was one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

On ways to bring the economy back on track, the President said one is seeking relief from the IMF, which he described as an important step. President Akufo-Addo gave the assurance that the government will continue with the programmes for the expansion and modernisation of the education system to create a 21st-century workforce, the systematic reform of the healthcare system to ensure a resilient, robust healthcare delivery system; and the realisation of the agenda of industrial transformation that holds the key to future prosperity.

The President reiterated his commitment to the empowerment of the security services to consolidate the peace, security and stability of the state and nation; the establishment of a free and just society, where entrepreneurship and individual initiatives are the sources of wealth creation with a strong social safety net for the marginalized and disadvantaged.
