Renowned Ghanaian actress Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono, marked her 80th birthday with a grand celebration, culminating in the launch of her autobiography, “Unforgettable Maame Dokono,” on Saturday, September 7.
Although Maame Dokono turned 80 in June 2024, the celebratory event was held at the Underbridge in East Legon, attracting a star-studded crowd of celebrities and dignitaries. The evening was filled with glamour as Maame Dokono, resplendent in a stunning blue-sparkling ensemble, was joined by former colleagues and industry peers for a ceremonial cake-cutting ceremony.
Comedian DKB hosted the event, which featured notable personalities such as Nana Ama Mcbrown, David Dontoh, Prophet Kofi Oduro, Adwoa Smart, Abeiku Santana, and Christine Doe Tetteh.
Maame Dokono has been a household name in Ghana for over five decades, showcasing her exceptional acting skills in numerous movies and drama performances. She was the face of Ghana’s popular Akan Drama and lead actress of the Obra Drama Group. Her impressive filmography includes over 50 movies.
In addition to her acting career, Maame Dokono hosted influential radio and television talk shows addressing social and human rights issues. She has also released three music albums.
Her compassion for the vulnerable led her to establish the Peace and Love orphanage, providing care for orphans and underprivileged children in Ghana.
The launch of “Unforgettable Maame Dokono” serves as a testament to her remarkable career and enduring legacy.
