The father of Edward Borketey Sackey, a final-year student at O’Reilly Senior High School who was tragically stabbed to death, has shared the heartbreaking events that led to his son’s demise.
In an interview with 3News, he recounted, “Yesterday [September 2], I saw my boy off to school and then went to work. Later, my niece called, telling me that Edward was having a misunderstanding with another student and asked me to come.”

He expressed confusion over why the teachers were not intervening in the situation, only to be informed that they were not taking action. As he rushed to the school, he received another call saying that Edward had been stabbed and was lying on the school grounds. Shortly after, his niece contacted him again, asking him to meet them at the LEKMA hospital.
Upon his arrival at the hospital, the devastating news awaited him—Edward had succumbed to his injuries. “The doctor told me Edward had passed away. When they showed me his body, I saw that he had been stabbed three times in the chest,” the father said.
He criticized both the school authorities and the police for their lack of response, noting that neither had contacted him since the incident. “The school authorities have not said anything since yesterday. The police haven’t called, the school hasn’t called, and even the family of the boy who killed my son hasn’t reached out. That’s why we are here—to seek justice for my son,” he lamented.
He is demanding justice and explanations from the school authorities, questioning whether the teachers were present during the incident and why they did not intervene. His frustration has been further compounded by the presence of police officers blocking the school gates, preventing him and other family members from entering the campus.
“They have brought policemen to block every gate, stopping us from going in. That’s why we are here,” he added.
The community remains in shock, calling for a thorough investigation and accountability for the tragic loss of young Edward.
