The PRO for Akim Ofoase Zongo Youth in the Akyemansa district (Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency) of Eastern region has described the actions of some youths from Akyem Brenase against their youth in the past few days as senseless and barbaric.
In a press Statement signed and issued by the leadership and youths of Ofoase Zongo in Akyem Ofoase Zongo, the spokesperson; General Buhari Abubakari indicated that they do not understand why some youth from Akyem Brenase who are known to be gang of armed robbers and have been terorising the inhabitants of the enclave and robbing them of their valuables and monies should open fire on their innocent young men simply because they have assisted and arrested the leader of the armed robbery group from Akyem Brenase and handed him over to the police.
He stated, “our youth only did what is expected of every good citizen of Ghana by only assisting in apprehending a known rascal who is the leader of the armed robbery group in the area and has been on the wanted list of the Ghana police service in Akyem Ofoase.”
According to General Buhari, the known armed robber had come with his group to engage in robbery around the “Outlaw spot”, a popular drinking spot in Akyem Ofoase about 8:30pm, Monday the 25th July 2022.
The youth who were in the town at the time picked that Intel and quickly chased him, arrested and handed him over to the police in Akyem Ofoase.
The father of the criminal who feed on the proceeds of his robbery mobilize his gang members in two tricycles with guns and machetes to attack their young men for no crime. Such an irresponsible father who had failed woefully to train his son to a useful person in the society.
“What crime did our youth committed in this regard to warrant such animalistic attacks from the rest of the criminals who had vow to attack everyone including the police barracks to free their leader”, he questioned?
“He revealed that the following towns; Kotokuom, Ofoase Kuma, Praso, Ofoase Panyin and Brenase itself where those rascals are coming from have caused damages to innocent people in these areas.” One cannot travel through in those towns after 5:30pm.” They place barriers and rob them, slashing them with machetes and other deadly weapons of which must be stopped.
General Buhari Abubakari further expressed his disappointment over the wrongful reportage on the issue by some media houses and online portals, implicating their youth from Akyem Ofoase Zongo on the matter.
General Buhari Abubakari has therefore called on all the security agencies to ensure that all those criminals who had engaged in such criminal and heinous acts against them be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
“All we want is justice for our brother Daddy who had been killed and the 6 others who are still battling with their heal, we need that justice to prevail as early as possible to prevent any possible repressor and revenge attacks from us because we are law abiding citizens, but we won’t allow this issue to rest until the right justice is served us, we trust the police leadership to ensure we get the needed justice “ he added.
