Guinness World Record: Afua Asantewaa ends her sing-a-thon at 126 hours and 52 mins

Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum, the Ghanaian women’s rights advocate, journalist, and event organiser who captivated the nation with her singing marathon Guinness World Record attempt, has ended her quest after 126 hours and 52 minutes.

Asantewaa called time on her effort on the advice of her team led by Dr. Grace Buckman, who advised she quit on account of fatigue.

Her attempt, which is yet to be verified by Guinness World Record judges, went beyond the current record for the longest sing-a-thon held by India’s Sunil Waghmare in 2012.

The sing-a-thon began on December 24 at exactly midnight and ended on the morning of Friday, December 29, 2023.
