I Wanted To Play At The 2022 FIFA World Cup – Asamoah Gyan Reveals

Asamoah Gyan, the former captain of the Black Stars, has discussed his reasons for making himself available for Ghana’s 2022 World Cup team in Qatar.

According to him, the senior national team supporters requested to aid the nation.

The former Al Ain goal scorer claimed that many Ghanaians inspired him to participate in the World Cup, adding that he bought into the notion but was aware that he had to merit the call-up.

There was a lot of discussion on the street from people encouraging you to succeed. My goal was to satisfy the people and accomplish it for them. The same folks who called me and told me I could do it made me happy.

Let me do it,” I said, so I did. Let me reach that level and check, but regrettably, nothing happened. In reaction to some of the criticism that followed his declaration, he remarked, “I indicated in one of the interviews that I had to deserve the call-up.”

People misunderstood when I claimed I was rejoining the national team and believed it to be mine. “People misinterpreted that, so they began criticizing me, saying hurtful things to me, and insulting me,” he complained.
